There’s a new high-tech food waste elimination system in Dauphin County.
The Eco-Safe Digester at the Harrisburg Hilton was developed by BioHiTech.
The system eliminates food waste through aerobic digestion, and then converts up to 2500 pounds of waste daily into easily disposable grey water.
The Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Dennis Davin took part in a tour Tuesday.
“The other part of this is what this does for the environment, which is reducing the amount of food waste going into landfills. So we think it has a number of great different components to it and the fact it’s being developed in PA is great,” Davin said.
Secretary Davin also toured BioHiTech’s technology offices.
